Recent Days Plainfield Hadley Review: "Not knowing Koh Samui, we spent quite a bit of time narrowing down to this resort based on reviews of properties on the Internet. We didn't want to be on the main/best beach due to overbuilding and commercialism and wanted something a bit quieter and remote. We found it here. Resort buildings and landscaping are wonderful. Rooms were clean though just a slight bit worn. Bed was a bit 'creaky'. A/C necessary given heat down there but only works when you have card-key inserted (but I'm sure that energy is in very tight supply on islands such as this). Garden tubs were a bit small. Outdoor shower was kind of a nice feature. Pool was nice and cool and overlooked a small island in front of the resort. Mini-bar was in room and items were not so over priced (though most of Thai is very reasonable at the moment regardless). Don't expect much from beach here... it's mostly all rocks below the hotel and a stretch of beach starts just to the side of the property on a small bay. We only spent a few hours on the beach but found it somewhat limited and rocky. It was fine overall though. We were happier with the quieter setting anyways on a very short trip. Resort is somewhat removed from main areas of the island but there is lots of very rampant, scattered development on the main road nearby. Resort has free shuttle into Chewang Beach town at certain times of the day, so it's possible to shop and gain some accessories if desired. The food was reasonably priced and very good. Breakfast was also quite a spread and very good. They have a happy hour twice a day though we were a bit disappointed in the mixed drinks. We found the staff to be a pleasure to work with--they were very friendly, greeted us at every opportunity, understood English fairly well, and accommodated even some special requests without hesitation. We did not use spa facilities or fitness center. They have a nice dive shop on-site though we had already arranged a dive trip through a separate sh"
