Recent Residence Marriott Downtown Canal Review: "First off, it's right on the canal - we got a room on the canal level, so the water was about 10 feet from our window - nice and beautiful, seeing the ducks go by every now and then. They provide a nice continental breakfast, with eggs, sausage, cereal, belgium waffles, fruit, juice, etc. But I also need to give kudos to the staff. There was a problem  with our room - there was an occasional leak from the room above us above the counter in the bathroom, which caused some dripping. Because of it, the manager gave us free taxi rides to get to and from the theater on Saturday night, which I thought was a good response. (I'm sure they would have transferred us to another room if we asked, but we didn't want to bother with moving all of our stuff). Also, the staff were great in helping us to find a place to eat. It was new year's day, and half the places were closed and the other half were booked, but the guy at the desk spent about half an hour calling places for us so we could have a reservation at a good restaurant somewhere. You are within walking distance of the zoo, downtown, and within a long walk of the Murat theatre, so the location is great. Being right on the canal was great for us as we love to run, so it gave us a great place to run without having to worry about traffic lights. The staff were wonderful, the location was ideal, and the breakfast was good. I would definitely stay here again."
